Bob’s Open Mic 11th February 2008

I arrived late this evening, about 10.15, so had missed a few of the performances. George Martin was on stage singing ‘Harvest Moon’.

Bob Leslie was then back and asked Elspeth Durkin to join him on backing vocals for a couple of Little Feat songs - ‘Dixie Chicken’ and ‘Willin’. Bob then continued with another few songs - ‘Crossroads’ , ‘Born to be Wild’, ‘It wasn’t down in Texas’, and ‘Mara’ - the last two being his own compositions.

He then got Elspeth back up to sing ‘Autumn Leaves’ and then there was a request for Bob to sing his song ‘Frankenstein’.

George Martin then got back on stage and performed a Simon & Garfunkel song ‘America’ and then a Beatles song ‘You’ve got to hide your love away’.

George was then joined by Kate McGee to sing ‘Take the weather with you’ and Big Yellow Taxi’. [There is a short video clip of this at youtube - click on the link to Kindurco youtube at the side ]
They have a gig this Friday 15th February at Granny Gibbs, 1306 Dumbarton Road, Whiteinch, Glasgow.
Next up was Jer McDade who sang a couple of his own songs ‘Further on down the road’ and then ‘The new James Bond’.

Bob then got Elspeth Durkin back up to sing another couple of songs ‘Jolene’ and ‘After the Goldrush’. She then read out her own poem ‘Mountains of the Moon’ which can be read on a Blogsite kindurcomusings [click the links at the side of this blog.]

Joe MacAtamany then got on stage and sang ‘Northern Water’ and ‘Gallipoli’ getting everyone to join in with the chorus.

Bob then finished off the evening with help from the Chicken Supremes [- this week consisting of Elspeth and Kate!] singing ‘The Mighty Quinn’, ‘You keep me hanging on’ and finally ‘Gloria’.

An enjoyable evening.
