20th June 2007 Clutha Vaults

Sandy's Open Mic night at the Clutha Vaults, has become one of the best evenings of free entertainment on a wednesday evening in Glasgow.
Our 'host' Sandy Watson.

Joe Kidd and Johnny T Miller were one stage when we arrived, singing Joe's song 'If you were my girl' and they followed that with a nother new song called 'Simplicity'.

Gavin got up with Johnny next and they did 'Always'
and then Gavin and his friend Christine performed a Joni Mitchell song 'If I had a river'.
Jamie then got up and sang his own song [ but he never gave us the title]
followed by Michael who gave us the Rolling Stones classic 'Dead Flowers'
Stevie then got on stage and gave us two songs 'Monday Afternoon' his own composition and then a Verve song -'The drugs don't work'.
John Alexander then got up and gave us 'Piece of my skin'
followed by Peter MacAteer with 'River of Tears'
Cheryll and George Campbell then gave us 'Everybody's got a hungry heart' and then 'Bad News', and then George gave us' a Glesca version o' "Honky Tonk Woman"!! very hilarious.
Davie Ritchie , vocalist from the Cobramatics, then gave us a couple of song s including 'Debris Rose'

Stevie, Bob and Johnny T then performed 'Eastender Blues'

then Bob, Johnny & Elspeth Durkin gave us 'Your Cheatin' Heart' and then the Little Feat song 'Dixie Chicken'.

Bob and Johnny finished off with the Who song 'Substitute'

Gerry McHugh then changed the pace and gave us 'Russian Lullaby'
he was followed by Ger McDade who gave us two of his original songs 'Mrs Moonshine' and then 'Further on down the road'.

Andy 'the candy' Logan then got on stage with Johnny T and sang 'The games people play' with rousing accompanyment by the audience!

Joe MacAtamy then did his version of the Tay Boat song.

Willie 'Jukebox' Mathews then got on stae with Johnny T and performed two songs - 'They call me the Breeze' and then 'Stormy Monday'
Billy from Govan was back with his song 'If I had a rocket launcher'
then Brian McLachlan, lead guitar with the Vagabonds, gave us 'It's my song' with help from Johhny T on Bass.
The final song of the evening was from Gerry McHugh ' The Sound of Sirens' a wry look at the peculiarly Scottish cult of the Buckfast drinkers!
Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, and all the performers are definately enjoying the new stage area and improved sound.
